National French Fries Day

I will not discuss if it is French Fries or Belgian Fries or something else. For the sake of the day lets call French Fries. You can read more about it here.  So today June 13 is National French Fries Day in the US. How a day becomes a National Day of something?  I can understand Memorial Day, Independence Day even Mothers Day but French Fries Day.

My research led to nowhere in trying to find the creator and the origin of National French Fry Day, an “unofficial” national holiday. But it still exists in National Days Calendar.

In fact, the recipe for french fries was noted in a manuscript in Jefferson’s own hand, believed to come from his French chef, Honore Julien.

The expression “French fried potatoes” first occurred in print in English in the 1856 work Cookery for Maids of All Work by E. Warren: “French Fried Potatoes.

I had a search for the best of French Fries but it was not complete. Soon I will start another expedition to find the best French Fries. You can reach the old posts from the links below.
